AMARILLO – the people who live here  call their town „ The Yellow Rose Of Texas“!
... and that is easy to understand, because „Amarillo“ is the spanish word for yellow and even the nearby river has this colour.
The town located right at the legendary route 66 in the north of Texas (The Panhandle) is mainly known for its cattle trade. Real cowboy life is guaranteed, which offers enough material for countless country songs. One of them sung by Chris Ledoux and George Strait is responsible for the Band’s name:  AMARILLO – By Morning!

To be honest – the cowboys’ lifestyle isn‘t really the matter of the boys from the Band AMARILLO. But they really live and love country music. And this kind of worship is only one reason why they are on the road for almost 20 years. Always demanding to perform country music authentically and in an American way.
Their definition of country music is simple: It has to be pure, honest and appealing, no matter if the song is traditional or modern.  So they developed their own sound through the years: In front of an impressive diversity of instruments like piano, electric- and acoustic-guitar, accordion, bass, mandolin, bluesharp and fiddle or steel guitar stands an amazing strong and clear lead voice, accompanied by well arranged harmony vocals.
Due to this flexibility they cover a wide field in Country Music like Cajun, Rock, Pop, Blues, Traditional, but the focus still lies on New Country as known from the late 80’s to the early 90’s and still holding on!

  The Band ...

... celebrates its 20th band anniversary in 2011 which now also means 20 years of experience, musical quality and assiduity within a still growing German and European country music scene. But perseverance always was a quality Amarillo was known for as well as their musical skills, which lead them to the winning of the German Country Music Award in 2006.
Considering the sound of Amarillo nothing is left to chance. Despite their own technical equipment they cooperate with professional technical engineers to offer the best possible musical treat.

The Musicians

"Sebbo“
Leadvocals, Acoustic-Guitar, Harp
Amarillo’s bandleader and frontman is also founder member of the Band from the early 90’s. This makes his face (voice) a reminder through the years within the national country music scene.
With interpretations free of any foreign accent and a voice that gets under your skin he even made American audience get enthusiastic.
His numerous musical projects brought him to stages all around Europe and even the USA. On solo-tours he only shows up with his guitar and his voice (what he calls Vocoustic Music) and underlines his fondness of music without any technical bits and pieces. This love to uncomplicated, true music was awaked by Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Neil Young ... and of course Garth Brooks and George Strait concerning Country Music. Therefore he honours his heroes in an annual musical tribute like the already legendary Garth Brooks Special Show. In every song he sings he puts in a lot of himself and makes the song his own.More and more he gets experienced in songwriting and supplies the band with original stuff.

"Thom"
Keyboard, Vocals, Accordion, Mandolin, Acoustic-Guitar, Harp,
Thomas is a real all-rounder. He’s playing almost every instrument he can carry up on stage. Initially he came as a piano player in 1993, but then developed to a real multi talented musician. With his accordion and the blues harp he found his favourite style in cajun and country blues and with the mandolin he brings a bit of bluegrass feeling to Amarillo.
His skills as a multi instrumentalist are also known by other bands so that he is often invited to studio projects and as a guest picker.
Starting with folk music he came into Country in 1990 with the Dettlaff Brother and Daniel T. Coates, whose band he of course still joins for some gigs during the year. But Thomas joined Amarillo as a constant member in 1993 and since then plays a major part in the sound of the harmony vocals of the band. Not to forget his solo singing abilities.

"Bört"
Bass-Guitar, Vocals
Bört was born and raised in Berlin, where he played Bass for several well known Bands. His first steps into Country Music began with the foundation of the legandary Mountaineers in the early 80´s. But he also joined other groups like the Earthwood Family, Stateline, Gunter Gabriel and Texas Bluesmen Revue. Since the Reunin of the Mountaineers in 2003 their new way was sucsessful and in 2005 they received the German Country Music Award. During the Award Tour he met Sebbo from the Band Amarillo and they both formed the Songwriter and Texas Music based Duo "Mountarillo" so they could bring their original songs on stage. In 2009 Bört planned to move to Franconia with his wife to go new musical ways with the band Amarillo. As a Bass player with a striking voice he now completes Amarillo´s strong harmony singing.

"Jergn"
Accoustic- &
Electric Guitar, Lap Steel, Mandolin
He is a real travelling musician and already toured with Bill Ramsey, Grammy Award Winner John Ely (Asleep At The Wheel), Bernd Clüver ... you name it!
In the small world of european Country Music he was a very welcome temporary substitute for bands like Britta T (Nr.1 female Country singer from Swiss), Texas Radio, Mark Bender and a lot more. With his former Band  he won 7 Awards in a row in 6 years!!!!
His amazing skills and stylistic bandwidth help him to fit into the different styles of Country Music from Bluegrass to Westernswing or Honky Tonk and Modern. These conditions make Jergn the perfect addition for Amarillo on lead guitar.

"Phil"
Drums, Percussion, Cachon
Philipp Renz was born in Ansbach. He graduated the music school in Dinkelsbühl for Rock/Pop/Jazz as a state certified teacher for Popular Music. Additionally he studied at the Los Angelos Music Academy and at the Drummers Institute Düsseldorf - both leaving with great success!  He is professional drummer since 16 years and joined several bands in the fields of Rock, Pop, Jazz. In Studio he worked together with Jonny Pechstein, Simon Goodall, Stromy Weather, Brenda Jackson - to name a few - and is also working as a Band coach.
